1. 表示“解釋”，通常不接雙賓語；若語義上需要這類結(jié)構(gòu)，可以改用 explain sth to sb結(jié)構(gòu)。如：
請把這條規(guī)則給我們解釋一下。
誤：Please explain us this rule.
正：Please explain this rule to us.
若其中的 sth 較長或較復(fù)雜（比如是不定式或從句），也可以用explain to sb sth。如：
He explained to us why he was late. 他給我們解釋了他遲到的原因。
I’ll explain to you why I like it.
Don’t sign anything until your solicitor has explained the contract to you
在律師向你解釋清楚合同之前，不要簽署任何東西。
The teacher explained the rules to the children.
老師向孩子們說明規(guī)則。
It was difficult to explain the problem to beginners.

2. explain to sb that/ explain that

3. explain how 從句

4. explain wh-從句/ explained to Sb wh-
He explained who each person in the photo was.
他對照片里的人一一作了介紹。
She explained to them what to do in an emergency.

6. explain后接反身代詞作賓語，有兩個意思。如：
(1) 表示把自己的意思表達清楚。如：
Could you explain yourself a bit more? 你能把意思說得更清楚點嗎?
Could you explain yourself a little more─I didn’t understand.
請把你的意思說得更清楚一點——我還不明白。
(2) 表示對自己的行為進行解釋。如；
I really don’t see why I should have to explain myself to you.
我真不明白我為什么非要向你解釋我的行為不可。
Late again, Smith? I hope you can explain yourself! 又遲到了，史密斯?我希望你能說明一下原因！
